Doulas supports mom-to-be and the family...
From emotional support throughout your pregnancy to managing labor pain and more, a doula is a trusted guide for your pregnancy journey. A doula is a birth worker who supports birthing people from pregnancy through childbirth to help you have a safe, healthy, and empowering pregnancy and delivery experience. A doula “mothers the mother” and the family. We offer continuous support for laboring parent. As doulas, we extend wisdom, comfort, and encouragement as we serve as liaisons doctors, nurses, and your clinical team. While doulas are not there to replace your partner, they can provide you both with additional support as an experienced guide.
Higher number of positive birth outcomes...
With the support of a doula, expectant mothers had better birth outcomes according to the National Library of Medicine. Doula-assisted mothers were four times less likely to have a low birth weight (LBW) baby, two times less likely to experience a birth complication involving themselves or their baby, and significantly more likely to initiate breastfeeding. Communication with and encouragement from a doula throughout the pregnancy may have increased the mother’s self-efficacy regarding her ability to impact her own pregnancy outcomes.
Doulas provide support for postpartum care...
While some doulas focus on guiding you through pregnancy, labor and childbirth, others are available who continue to provide support during the postpartum period. Postpartum care can be delivered as ongoing community support and postpartum education through educational materials and many other ways. Doula support during this critical period also helps mothers initiate and continue breastfeeding.
