Birth Doula

What is a birth doula?

A birth doula is a professional birth companion who serves parents as a birth mentor and source of support. Not to be confused with a midwife, who provides assistance as a medical provider, a birth doula provides the education, support, and tools you need to navigate your birth. We specialize in providing care and support just for you. Our doulas are trained to understand your experiences and provide compassionate care.

What does a birth doula do?

A doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informative support to you and your partner during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. The doula’s role is to help the client hold a safe and comfortable space as they experience different aspects of childbirth.  Doulas have a positive impact on the well-being of the entire family.

What are the benefits of having a birth doula?

The best part of working with a birth doula is that the benefits for both you and baby are clear and documented — from shorter labors to decreased numbers of C-sections to less traumatic experiences. At the heart of every doula is the desire to support their families in creating the birthing experience that is safe, empowering and truly wonderful.

When do you start birthing care?

We can provide continuous physical, emotional, and informative support to you and your partner during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. For this service, we conduct a 1:1 meeting at 33wks, to gather prenatal information before the birthing date.
